As part of efforts to strengthen its partnership with
stakeholders in the business, Nigeria’s most innovative and fastest growing
telecommunications company, Etisalat recently hosted its top distribution
partners to a conference organized to review the performance and activities
carried out in the last three quarters of 2013 as well as agree on plans and
strategies for the final quarter of the year.
The
first edition of the conference was held in February 2013 thus making this the
first time Etisalat will be hosting the conference twice in a year. This
decision was informed by the need to re-ignite the passion of its dealer
partners, map-out the road to market and officially introduce the 67 partners
to the new Chief Commercial Officer of Etisalat, Mr. Matthew Willsher.
Speaking
at the event, Willsher who also doubles as the acting Chief Executive Officer
of Etisalat, expressed his delight at being a part of the conference as it gave
him the opportunity to meet and hear the views of the different distribution
partners while sharing the vision of the company moving forward.
“I
am happy to have met with these crucial members of our company and to have
talked to them about all the successes we have achieved. We have done
remarkably well over the last four years, going on five years, and we believe
Etisalat still has a lot of potentials. We realise that the partnership with
all of our channel and service partners will go a long way in maximising these
potentials”, he said. He urged the distribution partners to take advantage of
the infrastructure put in place by the network to get higher purchasing
customers.
Also
speaking at the conference, the Director of Sales Channels of Etisalat Nigeria,
Mr. Ken Ogujiofor stated that the revenue growth achieved by Etisalat in the
previous year was as a result of concerted efforts of the dealer partners. He
acknowledged that the dealer partners drive a significant chunk of the business
and as such certain measures have been put in place to ensure that there are
suitable working conditions for them.
One
of the dealers, Mr. Olajide Samson of Sonite Communications based in Kaduna
lauded Etisalat for its business model, including the incentives and trade
credit given to them, saying that he is more profitable with Etisalat.
“Whenever we have issues, Etisalat resolves them in time. They also give us
robust bank guarantees that encourage us to do more business. We are also
trained in areas of the business and are given good trade agents,” he said.
The
national distribution conference also featured several presentations on the
operations of the company, including an education on Mobile Number Portability
and the growing trend of data use in the telecommunications industry in
Nigeria. The conference climaxed with a special gala night to celebrate the
distribution partners commonly referred to the company as ‘heroes’.
