Global phone manufacturer, Nokia has moved to delight another market segment with its high end Lumia 1020 Smartphone that boasts of 41-megapixel camera which makes it the ultimate camera phone.
The Lumia 1020 is being launched in the Nigerian market in
partnership with leading telecommunications service provider, Etisalat Nigeria
and the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, Etihad Airways. It is an
improved version of the Nokia 808 Smartphone which the company launched in
2012. The Nokia Lumia 1020 runs on windows 8 operating system. Its 41-megapixel
camera sensor combines with Xenon flash, focus assist light and Nokia's Pro Cam
app to make it the most advanced and powerful camera Smartphone.
Speaking to customers on a boat cruise during the launch of
the device, renowned Nigerian photographer, Kelechi Amadi-Obi, highlighted that
the Lumia 1020 Smartphone’s dual capture feature allows taking a high
resolution 38-megapixel image and also creates a 5-megapixel picture that can
be shared on social media. While sharing 41 pictures he took with the Lumia
1020 tagged “Nigeria in 41 Pictures,” he explained that with the Nokia Pro
Camera, users can easily take professional quality images.
The device is powered by a 1.5 GHz dual-core Qualcomm
Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 4.5-inch 1280x768 (334 ppi) AMOLED display, 2GB
RAM, 32GB storage and a 2000MAh non-removable battery. It also supports Wi-Fi,
Bluetooth, NFC and support for 4G LTE network.
General Manager, Nokia West Africa, Chris Brown disclosed
that the Lumia 1020 is a product of Nokia’s long years of research in imaging
technology. He stressed that based on the level of innovation put into the
Smartphone, customers are sure to have great experiences especially camera
enthusiasts. “We are creating better Smartphones that allow lifestyle as well
as business consumers capture important moments in pictures with our Pureview
technology,” he said.
“In addition to having great experiences while using the
device, we have partnered with the most innovative telecoms operator, Etisalat
Nigeria to provide customers with seamless experiences while using this device
so that they can enjoy fantastic bonuses on the network and get airtime of up

The Lumia 1020 follows in the footsteps of the Nokia 808
PureView phone, which was the first phone to sport a 41MP sensor. That phone
was one of the last Nokia phones to run the Symbian OS, while the Lumia 1020 is
a Windows Phone.
